MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves to visualise the internal structures of the body in detail. MRI is particularly good at detecting soft tissues, making it ideal for imaging internal organs, the brain, the GERINC!! and joints.
In our hospital, MRI examinations are a priority, with our equipment we are able to diagnose diseases that require high resolution, so we can make a precise and rapid diagnosis. MRI is particularly useful for neurological problems, such as epileptic seizures, GERINC CONDITIONS! or brain lesions, but is also used for certain joint disorders. MRI has the highest tissue resolution. It has a prominent role in spinal surgery and in the surgical treatment of cancer.
The advantage of MRI is that it does not use ionising radiation, so it can be safer for more frequent examinations. In animals, MRI scans are performed under general anaesthesia.
The following diseases are most commonly diagnosed during an MRI scan

  • Hernia of the disc (discus hernia): Especially in small breeds, such as dachshund or French bulldog can cause acute paralysis requiring treatment within 48 hours.
  • Cauda equina syndrome: It occurs in the back of the spine, can cause back pain and paralysis of the back legs.
  • Spondylosis deformans: Bony growths on the spine, may cause stiffness in older dogs.
  • Spinal cord infarction (FCE): It causes sudden paralysis without pain due to a blood flow problem in the spine.
  • Wobbler syndrome: In large dogs, it causes walking difficulties due to instability of the cervical spine.
  • Spinal fractures, traumatic lesions

CT scanning is a modern imaging technique that uses X-rays to show the internal structures of the body in detail. The machine rotates around the patient while continuously emitting X-rays that travel through different densities of the body. The resulting images provide a three-dimensional reconstruction of the area being examined.
It is essential for the diagnosis of certain pet diseases, as it allows detailed examination of more complex anatomical structures such as the skull, chest and abdominal organs and joints. CT can also reveal tissue lesions and inflammatory processes that are difficult to detect with other imaging techniques.
It has a prominent role in our hospital, providing an essential modality for planning modern soft and orthopaedic surgery, and a rapid and accurate diagnosis, which is particularly important in emergency situations such as spinal disorders. CT scans are performed under general anaesthesia.
A CT scan can diagnose a wide range of diseases in small animals. It is often used tumours to detect tumours in the brain, lung or bone, for example. Helps to spinal problems, such as in the diagnosis of disc herniation or skull injuries. They are used bone fractures and joint diseases such as arthritis or dysplasia. For respiratory diseases, for example in cases of nasal tumours or lung diseases. Internal organ disorders, such as liver, kidney or spleen diseases. It can quickly detect lesions in head injuries or neurological problems. It can also be used for dental problems such as tooth root abscesses or oral cavity tumours.
